Delete Your DRTC Account
This page provides information about how to permanently delete your DRTC account and associated data.
⚠️ Warning: This action is permanent and cannot be undone
Deleting your account will permanently remove all your data from our servers.
Steps to Delete Your Account
- Log in to DRTC using your username and password
- Go to Profile Settings by clicking your avatar in the sidebar
- Scroll to the bottom of the profile settings
- Click "Delete Account" button
- Confirm your decision in the confirmation dialog
- Your account will be immediately deleted
Delete Your Account Now
If you're ready to delete your account, log in to DRTC and access the account deletion option in your profile settings.

What Data Gets Deleted
When you delete your DRTC account, the following data is permanently removed:
Immediately Deleted:
- Account Information: Username, email address, password hash
- Profile Data: Profile picture, bio, preferences
- Messages: All messages you sent in direct messages and group chats
- File Uploads: All files you uploaded to conversations
- Relationships: Friend connections and group memberships
- Reactions: All emoji reactions you added to messages
- Read Receipts: Message read status data
- Typing Indicators: Real-time activity data
What Happens to Your Chats:
- Direct Messages: DM rooms you participated in will be deleted
- Group Chats: Your messages will be removed from groups, but the groups themselves remain if other members exist
- Created Groups: Groups you created will be deleted if you were the only member
Data Retention Period
Immediate Deletion: Your account and all associated data are deleted immediately upon confirmation. There is no retention period.
No Backup Recovery: Once deleted, your data cannot be recovered from backups. The deletion is permanent.
What Is NOT Deleted
Please note that certain information may remain after account deletion:
- Server Logs: Technical logs containing IP addresses may be retained for up to 30 days for security and debugging purposes
- Legal Compliance: Any data we are required to retain by law will be kept for the legally required period
Alternative to Account Deletion
If you're not ready to permanently delete your account, you can:
- Log Out: Simply stop using the app without deleting your account
- Update Privacy Settings: Modify your profile picture, bio, and other visible information
- Leave Group Chats: Exit specific group conversations without deleting your account
- Remove Friends: Disconnect from specific users while keeping your account
Need Help?
After Account Deletion
Once your account is deleted:
- You will be immediately logged out
- Your username will become available for new registrations
- Other users will no longer see you in their friends list
- Your profile will be completely removed
- You can create a new account with the same email address if desired
Important Notice
Account deletion is permanent. Make sure you have saved any important information from your conversations before proceeding.
